Archive for the ‘Music and Reviews’ CategoryBehind the Curtain Experience with Puddle of MuddMonday, April 12th, 2010I wanted to incorporate the imagery associated with what goes on backstage, while Puddle on Mudd was playing their headlining set at the Grove in Anaheim, with these photos. I want to show the more technical side of what goes on behind the curtain, which is usually over glanced, or rarely seen by the crowd. Surprising there were only a few other individuals working back here. One man was helping out tuning the 5-6 guitars and basses, one was making sure no equipment would fall down on stage, and the other was just making sure the sound board wasn’t being touched by friends of the bands or other band members. Everyone had real a laid back attitude, except in one case where one of the other band members (not going to name names), who went on earlier and was heavily over intoxicated, started to yell to himself, “They loved me out there!” and nearly stumbled back on stage before he caught himself. Backstage Artist Lounge at NAMM music conventionWednesday, February 10th, 2010Businesses are continuously looking for alternative marketing tactics to bring about brand awareness and promote their product or service to their consumers. With a growing trend of using guerrilla marketing tactics across several industries, it is important for any company to look at all options of product placement in field. The Backstage Artist Lounge is a company that will help your brand be affiliated with world famous musicians and get your brand on stage where the public can awe in it’s glory. According to their company’s website, The Backstage Artist Lounge is a private lounge installed backstage at major music festivals where sponsors connect with talented bands for product sampling and relationship building opportunities. For more information please visit BackstageArtistLounge.com The photos above show just a few of the sponsors associated with promoting their brand with the Backstage Artist Lounge. These photos were taken at the most recent NAMM music convention, held in Anaheim, California. NAMM is an event only open to those participating in the music industry or invited guests. It’s a highly respected trade show that musicians and industry leaders can come together and conduct business strategy. Photos include; Katie Wade and Sarah Paget both co-producers for the Backstage Artist Lounge, as well as Christina Martin who founded the company. Jonathan Montoya, guitarist from well-known metal band Saliva, is also featured, aka the official rock star of the Back Stage Artist Lounge. As you can see, they prove to bring out the meaning in the slogan, work hard play hard. It’s important to balance your lifestyle with work. Why not go out and celebrate your accomplishments. Balance in life is important. The Colourist’s Pac Sun collaboration shirt is now available!Monday, December 7th, 2009The Colourist’s Pac Sun collaboration shirt is now available! Steel Pulse, living legends among the rasta community and those who appricaite the positive vibrations created through the soul of reggea. They played at the House of Blue Anaheim to a packed crowd of all ages. After seeing this show, it makes me want to yell “Rasta man vibrations are positive!” Revolution Mother: Mike V’s MetalSaturday, September 26th, 2009Mike Vallely has contributed towards both to the skateboarding Industry and most recently in the arts of performing heavy metal with his band Revolution Mother. A supporter of community awareness and helping kids get off the streets and onto a skateboard, his band is a new way for him to reach out towards his audience and supporters. With four band members playing on a stage, that fits comfortable a DJ, the band filled the small dance room at La Cav with heavy vibrations of distortion, that were shaking and wobbling the guitar amps that were stacked to the roof. Tables were thrown across the mash pit half way into Mike V’s set. The crowds also asked for more songs when the band ended their set by having the lead guitarist tell the audience he’s going to have a beer. It was a free show, Monday night with no football, what better way to spend a usually non-eventful night. The Colourist had their music video and Ep release show at the Yost theater on Friday July 31st. Recently having a article written about them in the OC Weekly, The Colourist is definitely letting their voices being heard. There was a good crowd at the show of all ages, who came out to enjoy the first showing of the band’s music video for “Oh Goodbye” and receive a free EP. Overall, the show was entertaining with good tunes and a fun atmosphere. I personally enjoyed the harmony between the voices of the the girl drummer Maya Tuttle and lead singer Adam Castilla. I recommend going to their myspace for more information about the band, future shows, and some tunes to listen too. www.myspace.com/thecolourist Stephen Marley: Live!Thursday, July 16th, 2009![]() Stephen Marley Stephen Marley played at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA last weekend. He performed with his band of percussionists, guitarists, back up vocals and a bassist. His son also joined him on stage dancing around and waving the jamaican flag. Stephen played earlier in the day and opened up for Snoop Dogg. He covered many of Bob Marley’s song as well as originals. He’s different than Damian Marley in the way that he is more a traditional classic reggae artist, versus Damian which is more focused on playing his music around the central theme of love. Stephen also had some interesting art in the background of his set. You can notice a couple painted on surfboards behind the set. Snoop Dogg: Live! at IrvineMonday, July 13th, 2009![]() Snoop Dogg Snoop Dogg at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine CA. He played after Stephen Marley’s set and opened for Slightly Stoopid. His performance was timed accordingly with the crowd’s energy level. The audience started to trickle away after he played. He sung originals off older albums and new popular songs such as sensual seduction through out the show. It was an overall entertaining performance, and interesting because i have never seen so much security for a single performer. He placed security guards in suits on each corner of the stage. ![]() Snoop Dogg |
